Equality and diversity
At QVH, we are committed to ensuring that our services and employment practices are fair, accessible and appropriate for the diverse patient community we serve and the workforce we employ. Our patients, their carers, visitors and our staff deserve the very best we can give them in an environment in which all feel respected, valued and empowered.
Information on our equality schemes, impact assessments and related data are available in the publications section.
Compliance with the Equality Act 2010
Since 2006, QVH has been producing and publishing equality and diversity reports. As an organisation, we have already been applying many of the principles that were proposed within the Equality Bill, which became the Equality Act 2010.
Our annual equality and human rights reports hold key data on staff and, more recently, service users and other important groups like foundation trust members. This information assists us in meeting the three aims of the general duty of the Equality Act.
We currently have data online for 2009, 2010 and 2011. Earlier reports are available on request from the Head of Human Resources. Our 2011 report covers data from the end of 2010 to November 2011. The 2011 data assisted us in setting our objectives for our equality objective scheme, which we have now published. We will be running engagement and consultation events to ask the community what they think our priorities should be over the coming years.
