Charitable fund

QVH has its own registered charity which was established in 1996 for the benefit of patients and staff of the hospital. Over the years, many generous individuals and organisations have donated to the fund and helped to provide facilities and opportunities over and above those that would be expected from NHS funds.

In particular, the charity helps us to improve the environment for patients, making them more comfortable. It is also used to buy additional, even better equipment, to upgrade the hospital site and to enhance facilities for our staff. The charity also supports our research and educational work, enabling us to continue to develop new and innovative treatments for our patients.

As a registered charity, the management of the money we receive is strictly controlled by law and can only be spent on clearly defined charitable purposes. The charity is governed by the Charitable Funds Advisory Committee on behalf of the corporate trustee (the board of directors).

How to make a donation

To donate to the QVH charity just download the How to support QVH leaflet, complete the form inside and return it to our Charitable Fund Manager as instructed. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can claim back the tax on your donation and increase its value by 28p in the pound at no extra cost to you. Just tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form.

To receive a copy of the leaflet and donation form by post please call 01342 414362.

Online giving

QVH Charitable Fund is a member of Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving. So, if you are planning a fundraising or challenge event you can nominate QVH as the charity that your sponsors will raise money for. It's quick and easy to set up an online fundraising page and for your sponsors to support you, and us, including reclaiming Gift Aid for sponsors who are UK tax payers. Visit www.justgiving.com or uk.virginmoneygiving.com for more information.

Leaving a legacy

Some people like to remember QVH in their will and leave a legacy, big or small. There are two ways of doing this:

a pecuniary legacy which is a fixed sum of moneya residuary legacy which is the gift of the remainder (or a percentage) of your estate after all other gifts to friends and family have been distributed and any debts have been dealt with.

Some people prefer to specify in their will how they would like their legacy to be used. To ensure that we are able to put your legacy to the best possible use as soon as we can, we particularly appreciate legacies that can be used to broadly support our patients, staff, estates, research of clinical directorates, rather than more specific requirements. However, we will, of course, respect your wishes.

If you would like to consider leaving a legacy to QVH, we encourage you to talk to your solicitor.
