Flowers

Unfortunately, flowers can increase the risk of infection on certain wards because of the specialised nature of the treatments provided. For this reason, flowers are not allowed in the Burns Centre or Sir Benjamin Rycroft Ward

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed inside the hospital, in any entrances or doorways or within the grounds except within the designated smoking shelters. These are located in the staff car park behind the estates department, next to the staff development centre and behind Ross Tilley Ward.

Facilities for visitors

Visitors can buy hot meals and snacks from the Spitfire Restaurant which is open 7.30am - 7.15pm weekdays and 8.30am - 4pm at weekends. The Hurricane Café is open 10am - 6pm on weekdays for sandwiches, snacks and hot drinks.

Vending machines offering hot and cold drinks and snacks are in the main corridor. There is also a convenience store just outside the north end of the hospital site on Holtye Avenue.

There is a cash machine in the main corridor but please note that it charges for withdrawals.

Local accommodation

We do not have accommodation at the hospital for visitors to stay overnight. Information on local hotels and B&Bs is available at www.eastgrinstead.gov.uk/tourism/accommodation.php.

On Peanut Ward there is the facility for one parent to stay overnight while their child is on the ward – please check arrangements with ward staff.
