We have a team of friendly clinical educators. They educate and train aspiring nurses, operating department assistants, ambulance personnel and newly graduated team members as well as supporting our existing workforce. Our educators hold a Degree or Masters and have acquired significant experience in their respective field e.g. Adult and paediatric burns. Maxillofacial, dental and world beating ophthalmic services, trauma and surgical cancer treatments, this list is not exhaustive. As such they can provide students within the clinical component of nursing or PAM education with in-depth instruction related to a specific patient population.
The team have a corporate education role but are well fitted to work and support individuals at all levels.
The education team have strong links with local Universities and can guide and help trained staff make education choices to enhance their own practice.
There are opportunities to work with the education team on specific development programmes.
Newly qualified staff are offered a 6 month preceptorship programme that is supported by departmental/ward staff as well as the clinical educators.
The Trust because of its unique place within the NHS and its size, supports the Educational team in developing one-off programmes to develop staff.
The new Quality Care Programme is delivered by the Education Team.
Newly qualified nurses awaiting their PIN will join us on a Band 4 and as soon as the PIN is issued you will move to band 5 and are guaranteed at least two increments in the first 12 months including paying NMC registration.
