Could you join our team?
We are looking for a massage therapist to volunteer in our Macmillan Cancer Support and Information Centre at Queen Victoria Hospital to provide complementary therapy for anyone affected by cancer.
You will be working with Macmillan staff and centre volunteers providing support for cancer patients, family and carers, based in the QVH Macmillan Cancer Support and Information Centre
You will be making a difference to people affected by cancer.
Through your volunteering role you will be meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and gaining an enhanced understanding about living with and beyond cancer.
When are you needed?
We would like you commit to a half or whole day each week. We are ideally looking for volunteers on:
- Thursday 09:30-12:30 morning or 13:30-15:45 afternoon appointments
What else do I need to know?
As a volunteer therapist, you will gain experience in a supportive and integrated therapeutic environment. You will be required to keep clear concise patient notes in line with data protection and confidentiality. Part of the role will be to evaluate patient satisfaction.
It is important to keep our staff and volunteers safe. We will provide you with PPE such as face masks to use whilst in the centre. Hand sanitiser is readily available.
Before your first session we will meet you to go through our risk assessment form and giving you the opportunity to ask any questions or let us know of anything we can do to support you. After the first session, a member of the volunteers team will check in with you to ask how it went and answer any questions/provide any extra support.
Requirements
Full insurance and registration with a professional organisation.
Expenses
Reimbursement of travel expenses and meals will be provided.
