  • Practical cadaveric and microvascular simulation course with an emphasis on hands on experience

  • Cadaveric virtual planning and guided surgery with flap inset for mandibular reconstruction using a fibula free flap

  • Intramuscular perforator dissection techniques

  • Each candidate will raise:

    • An anterolateral thigh free flap​

    • A medial sural artery free flap

    • A fibula free flap

  • Bedside perforator mark-up​

  • Patient positioning

  • Personalised approaches to reconstruction using perforator flaps

  • Chimeric design

  • Setup for microvascular surgery

  • Vessel preparation

  • Principles of triangulation

  • Workflow in flap salvage using a diagnostic approach

Aims & Objectives

There are huge regional variations in trainee exposure to microvascular surgery, free flap inset and perforator dissection; this course aims to deliver training in all three areas.
