Elections to the public and staff governor positions on the QVH council of governors take place annually, ready for new governors to begin their term of office on 1 July. Each eligible member of the foundation trust is entitled to vote. Formal notices of the nomination and elections processes, and the results, are published on this website.
An independent election scrutineer is appointed to oversee each election on behalf of the trust. Recent changes in legislation now enable online voting for those members who provide us with an email address. Members without email will continue to receive their ballot papers by post.
You don’t need qualifications or specific experience to be a governor, just commitment, some spare time and a genuine interest in working with the hospital to provide the best services for patients. 2020 Elections: Postponed
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, advice published by NHS Providers was for governor elections to be postponed for the foreseeable future. It was felt that not only would these divert resources at a time of crisis, it could also lead to an unsatisfactory process in terms of democracy.
We are hopeful to resume our election process next year, and members should receive details in early 2021 of how to stand for election.
