QVH is situated on Holtye Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 3DZ.

Parking

The what three words location for our visitor car park is: ///people.cups.straw

Parking charges operate Monday to Friday 8am-6pm. The cost is £1 per hour for the first 3 hours, and £4 for a 3-10 hour stay. Disabled drivers (displaying a valid blue badge) and motorcycles park for free. There are no charges at weekends or bank holidays. Payment is by cash, card or Apple Pay. You can also pay for your parking, or top up your parking via QR code using the posters around the hospital.

There are also a small number of short stay bays across the site where parking is free of charge for up to 20 minutes. These can be found near the Main Entrance (Canadian Wing), the X-Ray Department (clock tower entrance) the Minor Injuries Unit (Building 9) and the Jubilee Centre (Building 10).

Visitors who do not park within an appropriate bay or do not display a valid ticket are liable to be issued with a penalty notice.

Disabled parking

We have a number of spaces for disabled badge holders, including by the Minor Injuries Unit (Building 9), and in front of the X-Ray department (Main Hospital Building, in front of the clock tower).

Cycling

Bicycle storage can be found opposite the main entrance to the hospital, by the visitor car park, and also under the bike shelter opposite the clock tower.

Main outpatients drop off

For easier access to main outpatients, there is a drop off area accessed from the Minor Injuries Unit and Jubilee Centre car park.

Picking up a patient after surgery

Our discharge lounge is located via Gate 3. There is limited pick-up parking outside which can be used. You can find a map of how to access the discharge lounge here (opens PDF).

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available in the main corridor, as you enter from the visitor car park, and the Minor Injuries Unit. If none are available, please speak to a member of staff.

Carers

We have an open door policy for Carers at the Queen Victoria Hospital and encourage their participation in the care and support of their loved ones. For more information please speak to a member of staff on any of our wards.

Facilities

Hot meals, snacks and drinks are available from:

  • the Spitfire Restaurant is open Monday-Friday 7.30am-4pm, and at weekends and bank holidays 7.30am-3pm for sandwiches, hot food, drinks and snacks.
  • the Hurricane Café is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 9am-4pm for sandwiches, snacks and hot drinks.
  • the vending machines in the Lancaster Lounge, situated in Canadian Wing (near Ross Tilley and Margaret Duncombe wards). The lounge is open 24 hours a day.

There is also a convenience store just outside the north end of the hospital site on Holtye Avenue.

Free-phones to the local taxi service are situated in Main Outpatients, Minor Injuries Unit and close to the Main Entrance Reception desk, opposite switchboard.

There is a cash machine in the main corridor.

Chapel and multi faith room

Just off the car park by our minor injuries unit (to the left of the main out patients entrance) is our onsite chapel and multi faith room. It is open every day for patients, visitors and staff to use, so whether you are of a particular faith or no particular faith, you are welcome to visit. Please can we ask that during the pandemic you observe social distancing if other people are using the area too.

If a patient would like a visit from a chaplain or leader from another faith please speak to a nurse or a chaplain who can arrange this.
