Sophie Kirk completed a BSc in Psychology and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University in 2003, before starting her postgraduate diploma in adult nursing later that year at Southampton University, qualifying as an Adult nurse in 2005.

Post qualifying, Sophie worked on an acute surgical and medical digestive diseases unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. She joined Queen Victoria Hospital in 2008, working on the surgical inpatient wards, enhanced recovery, and the head and neck unit. Over the next eight years, she developed the necessary skills and experience to nurse patients with complex needs, following a wide range of traumatic injuries, cancer resection and surgical reconstruction within the speciality of breast, skin and head & neck cancer.

Sophie joined the plastics outreach team in 2016, and over the next eight years was part of expanding the outreach service that QVH offers to patients, their families and clinical teams across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Sophie qualified as a Micropigmentation Practitioner in 2022 which involves medical tattooing and the implantation of pigment into the skin to create the illusion of, or enhance a nipple and areola complex following breast reconstruction surgery. Sophie joined the breast reconstruction team at QVH in her post as Macmillan Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in 2025.
