Help to stop smoking

We recognise that stopping smoking can be very difficult and we want to do all that we can to support our patients on their journey.

All of our ward staff are trained to offer brief advice to support our patients to abstain from smoking. In addition to this, we have an onsite team of trained smoking cessation practitioners who are available for all patients and staff that require further assistance/intervention.

All of our patients will be asked about their smoking status when they are admitted to hospital. Whilst some patients may want to try and quit smoking, there will be others who do not necessarily want to but who are required to temporarily abstain from smoking prior to surgery.

If you are a patient or carer please speak to a member of your care team who can provide advice. and put you in touch with our smoking cessation team.

Alternatively you can contact the national smokefree service online at www.nhs.uk/smokefree or by calling 0300 123 1044 (free) to speak to an expert adviser.
