Kathy Brasier

Kathy was appointed Acting Chief Strategy Officer on 1 April 2026. Her NHS career began in 1993 when she commenced her nurse training at Charing Cross/Chelsea and Westminster, qualifying in 1996. After working in several hospitals, she joined QVH in March 1997 as a Registered Nurse on Canadian Wing. Kathy’s commitment to patient‑centred care supported her progression through a range of clinical and leadership roles, including ward manager, matron, and head of nursing. She also introduced and developed the Trust’s trauma coordinator role.

During the Covid‑19 pandemic in 2020, Kathy played a pivotal role in helping QVH become the surgical cancer hub for the southeast region. Following completion of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme and the award of her MSc in Healthcare Leadership, she became interim business manager at QVH in August 2019. She progressed to the deputy director of improvement and strategy in April 2023, leading transformational projects across the organisation. Kathy also undertook an executive role as director of operations for six months from November 2023, leading operational delivery across the organisation.

As deputy Chief Strategy Officer, Kathy has overseen several key strategic programmes, including the development of the QVH Strategy 2025–2030, the creation of the behavioural framework, and the refresh of the Trust’s vision and values in collaboration with our staff. She has also contributed significantly to strengthening key partnerships, including the agreement to progress with a strategic partnership in December 2025 with Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust group (RSFT/ASPH).

Kathy is passionate about continuous improvement and transformational change, and is driven by her commitment to ensuring patients remain at the heart of everything we do.

She now rejoins the Executive Leadership Team as the Acting Chief Strategy Officer.
