QVH takes starring role in new BBC documentary
Tuesday 26th March 2013
QVH is to feature in a major new BBC documentary. Keeping Britain Alive: The NHS in a Day starts on BBC Two at 9pm on Tuesday 26 March. The eight-part series was filmed on location across the NHS last October during a single 24 hour period.
QVH surgeon Lieutenant Colonel Tania Cubison will feature in one of the later programmes in the series (to be aired on 16 April), along with several of her patients and staff and patients from the hospital’s sleep studies centre.
In the series, 100 camera crews filming across the country capture the extraordinary breadth of demands placed on the country’s biggest institution on just one day at a critical time in its history. In a single day, 2,000 people are born, 1,300 die and one and a half million are treated by the NHS. In the first episode alone, this groundbreaking portrait of our national health service moves across the country revealing how the NHS copes with the growing demands of obesity, old age and cancer amongst others.
