Community Ear, Nose and Throat Outpatient Service

Thursday 27th October 2016

QVH is now providing a community-based ear, nose and throat (ENT) service, offering specialist advice and treatment for a range of ENT conditions.

The clinics are held at sites in East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Crawley and Worthing. The service is led by a specialist ENT consultant, with much of the treatment provided by GPs with specialist training.

Patients can be referred to the community-based ENT service by their GP. Assessment, diagnosis and treatment are delivered rapidly through a ‘one stop clinic’.

Paul Gable, QVH lead for clinical support services, said:

“We are now able to treat minor ENT complaints such as recurrent tonsillitis, nasal polyp and discharging ear outside of an acute hospital environment, bringing specialist care closer to people’s homes. We have worked with our local NHS commissioners to set up this new service and the expert clinical team will ensure smooth progression to hospital based services when needed.  The new service has been designed to help patients feel confident to care for their own condition when appropriate, and the service will provide clinical advice to GPs within 24 hours for urgent issues, three days for routine advice.”
