Hospital gardeners bloomin’ happy
Thursday 13th October 2016
Queen Victoria Hospital’s estates team are celebrating winning the prestigious East Grinstead in Bloom ‘Best Commercial Premises’ and a South East in Bloom certificate of excellence.
John Hobden, hospital ground supervisor, said: “This is great recognition for a very small and hardworking team. We look after the whole of the 35 acre hospital site in East Grinstead, which includes some beautiful mature trees in the ancient woodland as well as lawns and flower beds. We try to make sure the hospital is bright and welcoming for patients and staff. We’re very grateful to the League of Friends who fund all the plants and decorations for the hospital gardens.”
Kevin Tyrell-Dann, grounds assistant, has worked at the hospital for over 10 years and said: “Patients sometimes stop and tell me how lovely the gardens are looking, but it is very exciting to have the official stamp of approval from the East Grinstead in Bloom team.”
