Could you be the next member of our Council of Governors?

We are looking for local people interested in understanding and knowing more about the local NHS to consider volunteering to become a member of the Queen Victoria Hospital Council of Governors.

As an NHS foundation trust, the Queen Victoria Hospital has a Board of Directors and a Council of Governors. The Board of Directors is responsible for the strategy and performance of the trust and the Council of Governors holds the Board of Directors to account for the trust’s performance. The chair of the foundation trust leads both the board of directors and the council of governors.

Becoming a member of the Council of Governors is an opportunity to represent the local community and be involved in scrutinising decisions. Our hospital is proud of its heritage and community spirit and we have 20 members of the public sitting on our Council of Governors. Each term of office lasts for three years.

To find out more we are holding two information events on Monday 13 March at 5.30pm and Thursday 30 March at 11am, here in East Grinstead – if you’re considering standing for election it is essential you attend one of these events. To express an interest in one of the events or for further information please call Hilary Saunders on 01342 414200 or email Hilary.Saunders1@nhs.net. If you’re unable to attend either of those events please call Hilary Saunders to discuss.

To stand as a member of the Council of Governors you should be aged 18 or over and live in Kent, Surrey, East or West Sussex, or South London. You must also complete a short online registration to become a member of QVH (this is free of charge and enables you to also receive updates on the hospital and vote in elections).
