Gas main works in London Road, East Grinstead until end of February 2018

If you’re due to travel to an appointment at our hospital from Monday 9 October onwards, and will be travelling through East Grinstead, please allow extra time as essential gas works may disrupt your journey.

Following discussions with West Sussex County Council, Southern Gas Network (SGN) will start their work to replace old metal gas mains with plastic pipes, a project expected to last approximately 12 weeks. According to SGN, work along London Road will be carried out in two phases and suspended between Friday 17 November and 8 January to avoid disruption during the festive period.

The following is taken from information provided by SGN.

Phase one – approximately five weeks
From Monday 9 October one lane in London Road (A22), between Station Road and St James Road, will be closed. St James Road will also be closed to through traffic. Work will be suspended on Friday 17 November. Orange section shows road closure.

Phase two – approximately seven weeks
Work will recommence on London Road on Monday 8 January. During this phase London Road at its junction with Railway Approach will be temporarily closed. A signed diversion will be in place for through traffic via A22 Beeching Way, High Street and London Road (and the reverse). Purple shows diversion route.

For further information about the works please see the SGN website or call 0800 9121700.
