Give a gift, not chocolate this Easter

This Easter we are asking our supporters to join us in thinking about the health implications of excessive quantities of sugary snacks which are given to some of our patients at this time of year.

The children’s ward at Queen Victoria Hospital receives a great number of sweet donations every Easter from members of the public who want to treat those receiving care.

However, there are many health problems linked to high calorie consumption, and not all our young patients are allowed to eat chocolate.

So we are encouraging people to be a ‘good egg’ in another way this Easter, and consider making a donation to QVH Charity instead.

Our hospital charity funds important projects and initiatives in the children’s ward and across the hospital – all donations make a real difference to the care the hospital can provide to patients.

Camilla Slattery, Head of Fundraising at QVH Charity, said “We are so grateful for people’s support and it’s lovely the public think of patients in hospital over Easter but some of them can’t eat chocolate. So this year we’re asking our supporters to consider making a donation to our charity instead as it will enable us to fund improvements that will last throughout the year and beyond.

“Even small amounts of money add up and can go towards providing fantastic pieces of equipment. We would be so grateful for any donations people are able to make to our charity this Easter.”

If you would like to donate please make cheques payable to ‘QVH Charity’ and post to Queen Victoria Hospital, Holtye Road, East Grinstead RH19 3DZ, or find out more at the QVH Charity website
