Donating to our QVH Charity during the pandemic
Monday 20th April 2020
We would like to thank everyone in the local community for the kind offers of support for our amazing NHS Staff at QVH. If you would like to support us please consider donating online to our QVH Charity “QVH Heroes” appeal https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/supportqvhheroes.
Queen Victoria Hospital has a unique role during the COVID-19 pandemic as a specialist cancer and trauma surgical centre for the South East, making sure that people can still get vital, life changing treatment at this difficult time. Our specialist work will of course continue when the crisis is over and our patients and staff are enormously grateful for the extra support QVH Charity can provide.
As we are asking everyone to please ‘stay home and save lives’ and follow the non-essential travel guidelines, please do not come to the hospital with donations unless you have made arrangements in advance with our QVH Charity team – please email camilla.slattery@nhs.net
We have sufficient supplies of protective equipment for our staff including surgical scrubs, masks etc. The West Sussex Council is appealing for donations from local businesses who may have gloves, aprons or other protective equipment for care homes, if you can help please email SussexResilienceForum@sussex.pnn.police.uk with details. The East Grinstead Emergency Action Group are taking shopping and prescriptions to the vulnerable locally. If you would like to help please contact them directly on 01342 323636 and press 1 or email townclerk@eastgrinstead.gov.uk
We have received some wonderful laundry bags hand made locally and are not looking for any more at this time.
Thank you to the QVH Charity who kindly funded 10,553 free meals to staff who were still coming to the hospital to work. We are not looking for donations of food; if you have food items to donate please consider the community hubs which are supporting vulnerable and isolated people with packages delivered to their homes. You can contact the West Sussex community hubs by calling 033 022 27980.
