Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH) has appointed ‘NHS trailblazer’ Edmund Tabay as their new Chief Nursing Officer.
Back in 2021 Edmund became the first Filipino to be appointed as director of nursing in the NHS, when he began in that post at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
He is currently working for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust as the Hospital Director at the Princess Royal Hospital, in Haywards Heath, where he is responsible for leading, driving and coordinating programmes to improve outcomes and patient care.
Edmund will join QVH in January, when he will take over from Jane Dickson, who has been Interim Chief Nursing Officer since June following the retirement of Nicky Reeves.
James Lowell, QVH Chief Executive, said: “Edmund is considered a trailblazing senior nurse in the NHS and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us here at QVH.
“Edmund moved to the UK in 2001 driven by his ambition, self-belief, “passion for excellence” and support from peers. He received the Silver Chief Nursing Officer Award in 2020 in recognition of his outstanding commitment to nursing and is also committed to promoting equality and diversity within the workplace and across the system.
“We are really looking forward to him coming on board in January. I want to give my thanks to Jane for all she has done for us since she came in June. She will be with us until Edmund arrives in January.”
Edmund said: “I am incredibly proud to be appointed as Chief Nursing Officer at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at this exciting time. As an organisation renowned for its outstanding care, I look forward to building on this success, working alongside such a dedicated and exceptional team and supporting them to provide the best care and treatment possible.”
