Update on the local water supply issues – Monday 12 January

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible staff, volunteers, patients, and the local community for your support and understanding during the ongoing water supply issues affecting East Grinstead and the surrounding area.

We’re pleased to confirm that we have been able to keep our clinical services running, ensuring that patient care remains our top priority. Teams across the hospital have worked tirelessly to keep services running smoothly, and we are proud of their commitment.

A small number of outpatient appointments needed to be postponed but all patients affected were contacted in advance and we are prioritising rescheduling them.

The water supply has not yet returned, so we still have a tanker onsite to provide us with the water we need. In the meantime, some temporary changes are in place to help us manage water usage safely and effectively.

Helpful information:

  • Appointments and surgery: Please attend as planned unless we contact you directly. Some appointments we may move to virtual where clinically appropriate, but will contact you if this is the case.
  • Visiting wards: To help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients, we are asking you not to visit patients on the wards unless it is essential whilst the water supply issues continue.
  • Bring essentials: If you’re visiting, please bring your own drinking water and any snacks you may need, as our catering facilities for visitors are temporarily closed.
  • Use water wisely: We’re conserving water on site, so please help us by using only what you need.

If you have any concerns during your visit, speak to a member of the team.

We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates here on our website and on our Facebook page.as soon as possible. Thank you again for your patience and support as we work through this challenge together.
