Who is your QVH star? Nominate them for our 2026 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Did someone at Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) make a real difference to your care in the last year? Perhaps they listened when you needed reassurance, went out of their way to help you feel comfortable, or showed kindness at a moment that really mattered.

QVH is inviting patients, families and carers to help recognise those incredible staff by nominating them for the Outstanding Patient Experience Award, a special accolade that is entirely chosen by patients.

This unique award celebrates the individuals who go above and beyond to deliver compassionate, personalised care. From porters and reception staff to nurses, therapists, clinicians, volunteers and support teams, nominations are welcome for anyone who helped make your experience of QVH a positive one.

Your nomination is a powerful way to say thank you. It takes just a few minutes to complete the online form, and you don’t need to know the staff member’s full name, just tell us what you remember about them and why they stood out. Paper nominations are also available for those who prefer to apply by post.

Commenting on the awards, Liz Blackburn, Acting Chief Nurse, said:
“At QVH, patient experience sits at the very heart of everything we do, which is what makes this award so special: it is shaped entirely by the voices of the people we care for. Every day, our staff bring compassion, skill and humanity to their work, often in ways they may not even realise have had a lasting impact on patients and families.

When patients take the time to nominate, it tells our staff that what they did really mattered; that they were seen, remembered, and valued. Those messages of appreciation mean an enormous amount.”

Every nomination is shared with staff following the awards ceremony, meaning your words of appreciation will be seen and felt by the people who cared for you.

The Outstanding Patient Experience Award will be presented at the QVH Star Awards in July, celebrating the exceptional people who help QVH rebuild lives every day.
