Update on receiving hospital letters online
Thursday 6th August 2026
From Monday 17 August 2026, Queen Victoria Hospital patients who receive hospital letters online through My Health and Care Record, powered by Patients Know Best, will no longer receive duplicate copies through the post.
Patients who are registered for My Health and Care Record are able to view their letters securely from any device and through the NHS App. Letters can also be downloaded or printed if needed.
This change only applies to patients who are registered for My Health and Care Record. If you are not registered, there will be no change, and you will continue to receive your hospital letters in the post.
Many NHS organisations are now sharing more information with patients online.
Receiving letters in this way means patients can access them more quickly and conveniently and view them securely at any time. It is also better for the environment, reducing paper, printing and postage and allows the NHS to make better use of its resources, with savings reinvested in patient care.
