Community Diagnostic Centre enters final stages of preparation

Excitement is building as preparations for the opening of Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) enter their final stages.

Construction of the building is now almost complete, with final touches being made both inside and outside the facility. At the same time, teams are preparing for the move into the new environment through familiarisation and training sessions, while departments begin making the final preparations needed to ensure patients receive an excellent experience from day one.

Backed by an £8.4 million investment from NHS England, the new CDC represents a significant milestone in the continued development of diagnostic services at Queen Victoria Hospital. Designed to enhance and expand the services already provided by the Trust, the centre will increase capacity for diagnostic testing and help patients access the investigations they need more quickly.

The CDC supports the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Health Plan for England, helping to bring care closer to home and support earlier diagnosis and intervention. By increasing diagnostic capacity, the new facility will help patients receive important tests sooner, supporting faster diagnosis, treatment and improved health outcomes.

As we move closer to opening, the CDC is rapidly transforming from a construction project into a fully functioning healthcare facility that will enhance diagnostic services for patients and communities across the region.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the project reaches this exciting milestone.
