One year of Archie EPR at Queen Victoria Hospital
Wednesday 4th November 2026
On 4th November 2025, we launched Archie, our new electronic patient record, named after our pioneering plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe.
Benefits across services
A year on, our teams are seeing the benefits in clinical care every day. Records are clearer and more accessible. Electronic prescribing and medicines administration supports safer medicines care. Colleagues have easier access to crucial information, such as X-rays and medical photography.
Our Minor Injuries Unit has moved from paper records to digital working. In paediatrics, digital pre-assessment and admission records have replaced multiple paper booklets, reducing duplication and saving nursing time. Less paper also means a greener NHS.
Continuing to build on success
And we’re continuing to improve Archie
EPR, extending digital working in critical care and enhancing the system in theatres, with better real-time reporting to support our teams.
But we’re not stopping here. We are now preparing for Archie PAS, our new patient administration system. Working alongside Archie EPR’s clinical record, it will support the administrative side of care and help teams coordinate care more effectively.
Award-winning digital transformation
We’re proud of our EPR and the recognition it has achieved. The rollout won Major Project Go-Live at the HTN Health Tech Awards 2026, and our EPR and EPMA teams were named Digital Transformation Runners-Up at the South East Digital Skills Development Network Awards 2026. The Digital Team also won the Chair and CEO Award for Outstanding Contribution at our own QVH Star Awards 2026.
Thank you!
Thank you to colleagues across QVH for making this first year possible and continually improving care for our patients.
