A look back at our journey through 2025 at Queen Victoria Hospital
Friday 2nd January 2026
As we reach the end of 2025, we look back on a year marked by both meaningful progress and significant challenges for everyone at QVH and across the wider NHS.
With 2026 beginning, this is the perfect opportunity to look back at some of the remarkable milestones and achievements that have shaped the past twelve months at our outstanding hospital.
Whilst we’ve highlighted only a selection of accomplishments, they represent the dedication, expertise, and compassion that our teams demonstrate every single day in delivering world-class care. Thank you to all of you for your unwavering commitment and hard work—it truly makes a difference.
- We’re starting with our outstanding patient feedback received this year:
This year’s national surveys placed QVH among the best hospitals in England for patient experience.
We came top in the Adult Inpatient Survey!
QVH ranked highest in the country in the latest CQC Adult Inpatient Survey, with an overall experience score of 4/10, well above the national average of 8.2. Patients gave exceptional ratings for compassion, dignity, communication, privacy, cleanliness and staff confidence. And our youngest patients also agree!
We achieved “much better than expected” results in the Children and Young People’s Patient Experience Survey, the only hospital in England to do so! Children and parents praised our staff, communication, activities on the ward, and the supportive environment on Peanut Ward. These results are a true reflection of our teams’ dedication to delivering outstanding care for every patient, every day. We are so grateful to our patients for giving us this incredible feedback! - We are driven to provide excellence in care, and 2025 brought our biggest digital transformation to date as part of this:
Transforming care with Archie EPR
We reached a major digital milestone when we launched Archie, our first electronic patient record (EPR) system. It will help us bring clinical information together in one place to support our staff in providing more efficient, safer patient care. Award‑winning innovation improving patient pathways
Our collaboration with med-tech company Feedback Medical earned us the HSJ Partnership Award for Most Effective Contribution to Clinical Redesign! Our digital breathlessness pathway has transformed diagnostics, reduced waiting times by 63%, and improving the experience for hundreds of patients so far. 2025 marked our first full year of the QVH Strategy 2025–2030, co‑designed with more than 3,000 staff, patients, volunteers and partners. Our ambition remains clear: to be a Centre of Excellence that rebuilds lives and supports communities backed by research, innovation and new ways of working with partners across the system. LINK QVH Strategy 2025-2030 – Queen Victoria Hospital - 2025 has seen us introduce one of the biggest developments in our history as a Trust:
Strengthening our future through partnership
In December, our Board of Directors confirmed plans for us to progress a strategic partnership with Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and the Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust group. The approval follows a detailed appraisal process involving staff, patients and partners, aiming to secure the long‑term sustainability of our specialist services while protecting our unique identity. We want to express our gratitude and say thank you to everyone who supported our hospital charity this year, including six‑year‑old Willow whose “dress‑up‑and‑dance” with her classmates raised £2,323.51. LINK: Young patient dances her way to fundraising success – Support Queen Victoria Hospital.
Our charity has done some incredible work with our local community - We never want to miss the chance to celebrate our colleagues, and our QVH Star Awards 2025 was a big highlight in the Trust calendar:
September saw our annual staff awards ceremony, which gave us the perfect opportunity to get together and celebrate the hard work, loyalty and accomplishments of our colleagues and reflect on what we have achieved as an organisation over the last year.
Colleagues nominated individuals and teams for a selection of different awards, and we even opened voting to you for our Outstanding Patient Experience award.
This year’s awards would not have been possible without the fantastic support of our QVH Charity, which we are immensely grateful for. After a challenging year, our colleagues enjoyed the chance to enjoy an evening of joy, togetherness and dancing the night away.
Looking ahead to 2026
Thank you to all of our staff, volunteers, every patient and supporter who has shared their experience or contributed to QVH this year. Here is to another year of continuing to rebuild lives, support healthier futures, and striving for excellence every day.
