Queen Victoria Hospital reaches next milestone in strategic partnership plans

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH) has reached the next milestone in its strategic partnership plans after the Boards of QVH, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT) approved the expansion of the existing ASPH and RSFT group to include QVH.

This marks an important step forward following QVH’s announcement in December 2025 that the ASPH and RSFT group had been identified as its preferred strategic partner following a comprehensive options appraisal process.

Since then, colleagues from all three organisations have worked together to develop plans for closer collaboration, ensuring the partnership will strengthen QVH’s long-term sustainability and resilience while protecting the hospital’s unique role as a leading specialist centre.

The decision to expand the group builds on the successful model already established between ASPH and RSFT, demonstrating how trusts can work more closely together while retaining their independence, identity and local accountability.

The partnership brings together organisations with complementary strengths and a shared commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.

QVH is a leading specialist centre for reconstruction and sleep, internationally recognised for pioneering innovative treatments and techniques. Bringing together these strengths with the expertise found across ASPH and RSFT, creates exciting opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen clinical networks, develop our workforce, support research and education, and improve outcomes and experiences for patients across Surrey, Sussex and beyond.

Importantly, there will be no immediate changes to the services patients receive. QVH will remain an independent NHS Foundation Trust with its own Board, leadership, identities and accountability. The expanded group model provides opportunities for closer working where collaboration can deliver greater benefits for patients, staff and services, while recognising the important role each organisation plays in its local communities.

The focus will remain on combining expertise, supporting colleagues and continuing to deliver safe, compassionate and outstanding care.
