Educational facilities

The Education centre offers a large teaching space, small teaching rooms, and a microsurgical skills lab. In addition to hosting regular teaching and simulation sessions for trainee doctors, the centre is used to improve access to effective education for medical, nursing, theatre and paramedic staff.

The staff development centre contains three fully equipped seminar rooms and an IT training room.

QVH library is a well-used facility offering study space, PCs on the NHS network and a separate broadband network, Wi-Fi, printers, a photocopier and a relaxing area to get away from it all. There is a broad range of books, journals, DVDs and CDs relevant to our specialist areas of burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, hand surgery and corneoplastic surgery. Other subject areas include leadership and management, study skills, and our two popular collections – leisure reading and healthy living.

In the recent GMC Training Survey QVH library was highly rated in all specialities.

Membership of QVH library is free for all employees of the hospital and employees of SECAmb, Sussex Partnership Trust and Sussex Community Trust.  All QVH staff are given the opportunity to join the library during their induction.  Others will need to contact us before their first visit to ensure that we are available to register them.  Opening hours: weekdays from 09:30 to 12:30 Registered members have 24/7 access and can use the self-service terminal to borrow, renew and return books.

Books, CDs, DVDs and journal articles may be requested by email, phone, on paper, via your online library account or in person. There is normally no charge for this service.

The library holds electronic subscriptions to many journals and books which are accessible using an QVH OpenAthens account. Hyperlinks to electronic resources are in the regional library catalogue.
