Ms Silvana Madi
Consultant Ophthalmologist

Ms Silvana Madi, PhD, FRCOphth, CertLRS is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in complex corneal and cataract surgery in both adults and children. She is based at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads the Paediatric Cornea Service and manages highly complex anterior segment cases within a tertiary referral setting.
Ms Madi holds a PhD in Ophthalmology and the academic title of Lecturer in Ophthalmology at Alexandria University, reflecting her extensive involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and examination. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth, London), holds the Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery (CertLRS), and is an Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists examinations.
She completed advanced dual corneal fellowship training, including a UK fellowship in Southend and an international fellowship in Italy under the mentorship of the internationally renowned corneal surgeon Professor Massimo Busin, a global pioneer of modern lamellar keratoplasty. Her clinical expertise includes DALK, DSAEK, DMEK, penetrating keratoplasty, paediatric corneal transplantation, and complex cataract surgery in high-risk, abnormal, and paediatric eyes.
Ms Madi has a strong international academic profile. She has presented courses, papers, and posters at numerous major international ophthalmic conferences, including meetings organised by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, ESCRS, ASCRS, and the World Cornea Congress. She has numerous publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact corneal and anterior segment journals, and has contributed to instructional courses and invited teaching sessions internationally.
Alongside her clinical and academic work, Ms Madi is deeply committed to service leadership, surgical excellence, education, and the advancement of paediatric corneal care, combining international subspecialist expertise with evidence-based, patient-centred practice.
