Dr Raad Makadsi

Specialist interests: inflammatory arthritis, complex muscle, connective tissue diseases and vasculitis, osteoporosis and soft tissue rheumatism in addition to general rheumatological problems.

Dr Raad Makadsi did his general medical training at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he obtained the membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1998. He then did his specialist training in general medicine and rheumatology at the North Western Deanery in Manchester.  During his five years of training, he was an honorary teacher at Manchester University Medical School. He had several publications on rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, and presented in national and International rheumatology meetings. He also obtained MSc in Clinical Rheumatology from Manchester University in 2003.

In 2003, he joined Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) as a part-time rheumatologist and the Medical Division at East Surrey Hospital as a full-time physician and rheumatologist. At QVH, he supports the plastic, orthopaedic and ophthalmology surgeons, providing complex immunotherapeutic treatment. He always has ongoing collaborative research with several publications. He is certified as a Royal College Educator from the Royal College of Physicians London and actively participates in the teaching programmes in addition to being the educational supervisor to the core medical trainees and rheumatology specialist registrars.

Dr Makadsi works with compassion and dedication to deliver safe effective and up-to-date rheumatology care.
