Miss Lauren Van Lancker is an award winning UK-trained Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Queen Victoria Hospital. With over 14 years of experience in ophthalmology, she offers comprehensive assessment and is dedicated to excellence in patient care.

Miss Van Lancker graduated from the University of Bristol with degrees in Neuroscience (BSc) and Medicine (MBChB, 2010). She trained as a physician (completing MRCP) prior to undergoing Ophthalmic Surgical training at the prestigious London Deanery followed by 2.5 years of glaucoma fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and King’s College Hospital.

Miss Van Lancker was appointed as an NHS Consultant in 2023, co-running a busy surgical Glaucoma unit at Epsom and St Helier Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. There she introduced numerous service improvements including introducing the Paul tube. She has performed or directly supervised over 3000 surgical procedures and her complication rates are below the national average. She has won three prestigious awards in the field of glaucoma.

Miss Van Lancker was appointed as a full-time Consultant at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2025. She is a keen teacher and has examined, taught and supervised medical students and resident doctors with excellent feedback. She co-runs the glaucoma fellowship programme. She is a compassionate, personable clinician and likes to ensure her patients receive holistic care and are educated about their glaucoma to optimise outcomes. Her 2025 patient feedback averaged 95%, reflecting excellent patient care.

Miss Van Lancker has authored numerous peer reviewed publications including on the comparative efficacy of filtering procedures for glaucoma. She has presented extensively internationally at conferences. She has a research interest in surgical outcomes.
